CIRCULATION POLICIES:

Read something new today! Our Library fiction section is genre-fied, which means that it’s organized into color-coded sections so you can more easily locate books you like to read. Fiction books are organized & color-coded by both author & genre! 

• Students may borrow up to 4 items at a time with a check-out period of 14 school days.
• Overdue notices will be sent out monthly.
• No daily overdue fines will be charged in the 2024-25 school year.
• Lost or damaged materials must be paid for so they can be replaced.

LIBRARY RULES:

• All students are required to have a signed pass issued from FPHS Faculty or Librarian.
• Sign in at library circulation desk when entering.
• Access technology for academic purposes and mute audio or use earbuds.
• No gum, food, or drinks are permitted.

RENEW LIBRARY MATERIALS:

Renew at the Library: Stop by the Library Circulation desk and use a self-check station. Forest Park HS Librarians can guide you at point of need.

Renew Online: Sign in to your Destiny Library account then go to 'My Stuff' tab at the top of the page. Choose 'Checkouts' option. Click 'Renew' button found beneath each book. Stop by the library to request a renewal extension as needed.

1. Go to FPHS Library Catalog and be sure you are logged in to Destiny by selecting blue PWCS Sign-On button.
2. Search for book(s) you want to borrow. Then click on any displayed book cover and select HOLD. 
3. Go to 'MY STUFF' in top Navigation Menu to view books you currently have placed on hold. We will message you when your hold is ready for pick-up. NOTE: Print books offer the HOLD option, but eBooks can be automatically borrowed, opened and read inside your Chrome or Edge browser.

Discover & enjoy Audio and eBooks through your laptop, phone or tablet with SORA. This amazing digital library collection is available 24/7 with books in a range of formats.

1. Download the app or go to PWCS Clever and search for SORA.
2. Choose PWCS as your campus location.
3. Log in with PWCS Forest Park HS profile, explore & borrow a book!
4. Find your current checkouts on your SHELF.

SORA TIPS:

• Select MORE OPTIONS to search by format, language & reading level.
• Select 'Show available books' only to see only books you can borrow right away.
• Click or tap reading settings icon to change your reading settings. You can adjust the text size, font, and lighting for most eBooks.
• Connect to the Prince William County Public Library to access even more titles!

ACCESS EBOOKS FROM FOREST PARK LIBRARY CATALOG

1. To access eBooks, go to FPHS Library Catalog. Select the 'Advanced Search' icon to right of search box to filter by title, subject, author or format (print or e-book)
2. Change the material type to Electronic Book (eBook).
3. Type in the title (see list below) and click on the title button.
4. Click on the eBook title when it appears; click Open on the right side of the screen.
5. Log-in with your PWCS SSO credentials to access.

ONLINE DATABASES

Use a research database for any academic research assignment where you will find trustworthy, accurate and current information. To access these resources, go to your PWCS Clever Dashboard and search for Gale in Context, EBSCO or World Book. These resources offer students Onedrive integration, embedded source citations, annotation tools and a range of subject area search options. Citations are fully formatted in MLA and APA format and can easily be exported to OneDrive.

Find reliable information you need to complete homework and research projects with EBSCO EXPLORA  With a quick search, find relevant results including articles, e-books, essays and primary source documents. Narrow results by  switching between document types or click the ‘All filters’ button to apply several filters at once, including Published Date and Source Type. View Help Sheet

World Book Online: Advanced gives high school students a powerful reference tool that includes full encyclopedic and multimedia databases supplemented with online books, primary sources, website links, Back in Time articles, special reports and more.
