October 18

NHS

Current members of National honor society will have a meeting after school today in the enclosed Cafeteria. After the meeting, we will be making posters to advertise a service project.

Science Fair

Students who are interested in participating in science fair please stop by room 2205 no later than tomorrow, October 19. This meeting will start at 2:15 p.m. and end at 2:40 p.m.

Boys Basketball

The Boys' Basketball program is having an information meeting about tryouts tomorrow, October 19, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. This meeting is for all Forest Park High School students interested in trying out for Boys' Basketball. We will be talking about tryout times and other important information. If you cannot attend the meeting, please speak with Coach Mak in room 1145.

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball will have an interest meeting for tryouts on Wednesday, October 20th at 2:30 p.m. in the commons. Please contact Coach Chris Baynham at baynhacr@pwcs.edu for more information.

Baseball

There will be a Baseball Interest Meeting on Thursday, October 21, at 2:15 p.m. in Room 1303. Please see Coach DeNard if you are unable to attend.

 

FBLA

The next FBLA meeting is Thursday 10/21 in the enclosed cafeteria right after school. Please check canvas to print out permission form for fundraiser or stop by room 2113.

We will be raffling off door prizes for those who have submitted their membership application and paid the $15 dues. These items should be submitted to Mrs. O'Connor in the library. This is a great way for IT program students to get their required community service hours done, while also having fun.

The national honor society sponsors have sent an email to all juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Each of these students will have the opportunity to apply to NHS. Please join the canvas page and read the information on how to apply. Please contact Mr. Higgins or Mrs. Miles for more information.

Key Club

All are invited to the Key Club interest meeting today, 2:15-3 p.m. in the library right after school. There will be an activity bus. If you cannot make the meeting but want to join, see Ms. O'Connor in the library for an application. Come learn about how to have fun while getting service hours. All are welcome. Powder Puff Boys

Spanish Honor Society

Spanish Honor Society: This is just a reminder that our first meeting will be held tomorrow, September 23, in room 1111 on "B street" at 2:15.

FBLA

Come to Mrs. Goldman's room to pay your FBLA dues and make Nurse appreciation cards. Don't forget to dress business casual.

Boys Basketball

There will be no Boys Basketball workouts this week. If you have not turned in paperwork or need information, see Coach Mak in room 1145. Take this time to focus on your classwork.

Interested in a competitive speech and drama team? Come find out more information about our FPHS Forensic Team. Our first meeting will be tomorrow, Thursday Sept 23, in the library at 2:15. Have rides here by 3 p.m. promptly. See Ms. O'Connor in the library for more information.

Social Studies Honor Society

If you are a junior or senior interested in applying for the Social Studies Honor Society, applications are due by this Friday, September 24. Please see your Social Studies classroom for a link to the application. Or stop by to see Mrs. Young in 1133.

Library

It is Start with Hello week! This week is about reaching out to one another and making connections within our community, bringing awareness to social isolation. Pop in and say hello in the library, by grabbing a bag of popcorn and meeting new friends.

National English Honor Society

Attention students who would like to join the National English Honor Society: Please pick up an application from your English teacher and return the completed form to Mrs. Haddad in Room 1101 no later than Friday, September 24th to be considered for membership. Requirements for membership are stapled to the front of the application. Please see Mrs. Haddad if you have any questions.

Social Committee

Are you a sports fan or have a favorite team you like to cheer for? Then represent your team this Friday, by wearing your favorite sports jersey! Let's start to get ready for homecoming week by showing your team's colors and getting into the spirit!

Yearbook

Reminder: Yearbook Cover Design submissions are due no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, September 24. Contribute a design for consideration for this year's yearbook. Requirements can be found on the Bruin Student Commons.

Yearbook

Do you want to be involved in this year’s yearbook cover? The yearbook staff wants to hear from you and offer you the opportunity to submit a design idea for consideration. Cover designs can be hand drawn or digitally created, as long as they meet the requirements.

Designs must meet the following criteria:

  • Fit the theme: Breaking News
  • Fit the dimensions of 8x11 paper (design will be blown up to 9x12 to fit on the cover)
  • Max file size of 100 MB
  • Include the theme phrase somewhere in the design
  • Be school appropriate

All submissions must be submitted to Ms. Becker using the following Google form no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2021

All form responses must be done through your Forest Park Google account. If you have issues submitting on the form, please send your design, along with your first/last name and grade level to Ms. Becker at beckerme@pwcs.edu.

Winner of the contest will be contacted and alerted of their win. They will also be invited to join Ms. Becker and this year’s editors on a Zoom meeting to meet with designers at Jostens to create the cover.

Library

September is Library Card Sign Up Month. Your library is hosting it's first contest - stop by to sign up for a Prince William Library card and your name goes into a drawing for a Starbucks gift card. If you have a card already, just show us a picture and your name goes in too!!

The contest lasts all month and winners will be drawn on September 30. See any of the staff in the library for more information.

Appointment Start Times: 3 p.m.

Seniors are welcome to contact our Customer Care Dept. at 800-736-4775 should they have any questions regarding sitting fees or photography.

Senior Appointment cards have been mailed to student’s home addresses. Appointment cards should be arriving soon, if they have not already arrived. 

Students are asked to log onto the website to "self-schedule" their appointment using their unique ID number (located on the appt. card) to select a date/time convenient for them. They may also enter onto the PrestigePortraits.com, click the "Locate My School" link, enter the city and state where the school is located.  Once they find the school, click on the school's name, and it will take them to the account to schedule an appointment.

Many student passwords have expired to their Office 365 accounts. Students will need to reset their passwords in order to access laptops and StudentVue. To reset student passwords, please have your child click the link below. Please be sure to follow the guidelines.

Please stop by Forest Park's main office, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., to pick up. If you would like to confirm a purchase, please call the school at 703-583-3200 and one of the secretaries can verify.
